This notice describes how The Makers Guild Workshop (“The Makers Guild Workshop,” “we,” or “us”) handles personal information through this website. It applies to visitors, maker applicants, makers, and administrators.
Information we collect

We do not request payment-card, Social Security, government-identification, health, biometric, or precise-geolocation information. Please do not include sensitive personal information in free-text fields.
How and why we use information
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the directory and account features.
- Review maker applications and communicate about membership.
- Deliver a visitor's message to the maker they chose and allow that maker to reply.
- Authenticate users, enforce permissions, and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Publish maker-provided profile, wares, Chronicle, and event information when marked for publication.
- Comply with law, enforce our rights, and respond to lawful requests.
When we disclose information
We may disclose personal information to:
- The maker you contact. That maker receives your name, email, subject, and message and acts independently when replying outside this service.
- Service providers. We disclose personal information to providers that host, operate, secure, store, and support the service, including cloud hosting and database providers. They process information as needed to provide those services and subject to their contractual obligations.
- External content providers. A maker may supply an externally hosted image URL. Loading it can disclose your IP address, browser information, and page URL to the image host. External links are governed by their destination’s privacy terms.
- Authorities and transaction participants. We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or complete a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of this service, subject to applicable protections.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
Cookies and privacy signals
The service uses a strictly necessary authentication cookie for signed-in users. Disabling it will prevent account features from working. Because we do not currently sell information or use cross-site behavioral advertising, browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change our current practices. If those practices change, we will update this notice and honor legally required signals before beginning the new processing.
Retention
We retain information only while reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including operating accounts, handling applications and messages, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, meeting legal obligations, and maintaining security. We consider the record’s age, status, sensitivity, legal requirements, and continuing operational need. Information may persist temporarily in encrypted backups and provider logs until those systems overwrite it under their normal schedules. When no longer needed, information is deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of.
Security
We use safeguards designed for the nature of the information, including HTTPS in transit, managed database encryption, hashed account passwords, role-based access, restricted production credentials, and access-controlled administration. No internet service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Never send a password or sensitive identification information through a contact form.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to confirm processing, access or obtain a copy, correct, delete, or restrict certain uses of your personal information; opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling; and appeal a denied request. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.
Submit a request by emailing guildmaster@makersguildworkshop.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe the right you wish to exercise and the context in which you provided information. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity and authority. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable, but we may verify both the agent’s authority and your identity. If we deny an appealable request, reply with “Privacy Appeal.”
Children
This service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
United States operation
The service is operated in the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access it from another country, your information may be transferred to a jurisdiction whose laws differ from those where you live.
Changes to this notice
We may revise this notice as the service, providers, or law changes. We will post the revised notice here and update the effective date. If a change materially alters how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required before applying the new practice.
